It's a Rev War Three-Way: Introduction

I've been on a Rev War kick of late. I've been reading the latest from the Rick Atkinson series of rev war history books: https://rickatkinson.com/

and I've been re-reading the Nathaniel Phibrick https://www.nathanielphilbrick.com/ trilogy as well. Both are outstanding pieces of historical writing. Well worth owning both series! Get them.

So this sparked the idea that I should do a Rev War Three-Way. Yes, your jokes are welcome. So I've been meaning to do this for some time, and I think I'm in the right mindset to properly cover all three more appropriately than when I first thought of doing this.

First up will be Ultimate General : American Revolution

Second up will be SGS We The People

Third up will be their ultimate predecessor, the AEGOD engine based Birth Of America 2. An outstanding game, and arguably the best of the bunch, but let's not make this a competition.

Interestingly Philip Thibaut is a game designer on both of the last two we'll be running through. I will try and reach out to Mr. Thibaut for an interview about both games and their development over the years.

The pledge. I will do the longer campaign for each of the three wargames. For Ultimate, that actually is the British Campaign, and this will be my first attempt as such. That will also be our first game up. I will run through three game-months of each wargame and give 10 screenshots with aar text of how things winded up. Rinse, repeat, until I finish the entire scenario in all three. This will take a while. I'm likely to take a short break from time to time to write about other games. SQUIRREL!!!
